He is a multidisciplinary academic researcher that puts students first. He has demonstrated expertise in building curricula, conducting collaborative research initiatives, and implementing blended learning in clinical settings.
Dr. Qutieshat completed his PhD in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Dundee, UK, in 2016. Following his PhD, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry, before embarking on a postdoctoral journey on oral simulation models. Upon completion of his postdoc, he has retained honorary research status at the same school. In 2019, and following the completion of several projects focusing on the scholarship of teaching and learning, he was recruited to Dundee Dental Hospital & School as an Associate Member of Staff. Dr. Qutieshat took up his position as Head of Research and Assistant Professor of Adult Restorative Dentistry at ODC in September 2021.
Dr. Qutieshat is committed to fostering students’ autonomy and critical thinking. He is the leader of several productive research groups at ODC and UOD and has a history of conducting excellent research. As a result of his active involvement in addressing the needs of vulnerable students, he developed a number of assistive technologies with practical implications for clinical educators. Together with DentAlign software, the first opensource dental 3D alignment tool, he also developed CrossLearn, an interactive dental education platform targeted at academic institutions and dental teachers.
